Welcome to the Hampstead Norreys community website. Hampstead Norreys is a vibrant village and on this website we will try to keep you informed of upcoming events in the village. Please let us know if you have an event you want to share. Please come back to the site on a regular basis to make sure you don’t miss anything.

Hampstead Norreys Village Hall

Urgent roof repairs will be carried out on the Village Hall roof starting
Friday, 1st July.

For this repair to be undertaken ground to guttering level scaffolding will be installed along the whole length of the South facing side and part of the Western side of the Hall.

Hazard “warning signs” asking people to stay clear of the structure will be displayed on and around the scaffolding.

Weather permitting the repair work is expected to last up-to 10days.

Hampstead Norreys is an historic village recorded in the Doomsday Book

Historic walks and afternoon teas are organised for groups in the spring and summer and full details are available here. Currently these walks have been suspended due to Covid 19 restrictions. They will restart in Spring 2022.

Energy Costs in Rural Area

is affected by the rapidly rising costs of energy which is a global phenomena. However rural areas are disproportionately affected as many like Hampstead Norreys has no gas supply and must rely on oil for home heating. The cost of domestic heating oil is not controlled by government so the prices reflected the large global price increases.

However there is some help for local residents through the Oil Buyers Group. If you are not already a member then take a look at the group's page.

Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Celebration.

On 2nd June Hampstead Norreys come alive again after over two years of “lockdown” and enjoying the four fabulous days of Platinum Jubilee Celebratory

A big ‘thank you’’ must go to the small group of organisers , those members of the W.I. who baked the Jubilee Pie, the large number of volunteers ( click here to see list) and all the participants who helped make the four day event a great success.

Thanks must also go to the Greenham Trust, our Parish Council, our Community Shop, our White Hart Pub, our Village Hall, Beechwood Eggs, and all the individuals who made generous grants and donations to fund the events. Thanks also to the Betts Family for allowing the use of one of their barns for the “street lunch” to take place out of the inclement weather.

We very much hope that the weekend’s celebrations will mark the restart of the successful social activities that our lovely community enjoys.
